NSW public schools offer special religious education and special education in ethics, delivered by approved providers wherever available.
At Quirindi Public School, SRE is delivered on Wednesday each week at the following times:
K-2 students from 1:00pm to 1:30pm
Years 3-4 from 2:05pm to 2:40pm and
Years 5-6 from 2:40pm to 3:10pm
In the Online Enrolment form there is a section to participate in SRE. There are three options Catholic, Combined Christian or Alternative Meaningful Activities. After the initial enrolment, notification of changes to a child's enrolment in SRE should be given to the school office, in writing.
The following SRE classes are offered at Quirindi Public School:
Catholic SRE is provided by Catholic Diocese of Armidale. More information about Catholic SRE, including the authorised curriculum scope and sequence, please visit the Catholic Diocese of Armidale website.
Christian SRE is a combined scripture which includes Anglican Diocese of Armidale, Australian Christian Churches and Uniting Church in Australia. The Christian Education Publications Connect Curriculum is used by this group. This publication can be found at www.cepstore.com.au
During the time that SRE classes are being held, students not attending will be located in a separate space and will participate in meaningful activities (activities could include reading, private study or completing homework).
During enrolment, you can choose a special religious education option for your child from the school’s available approved providers. You can withdraw your child from special religious education by selecting alternative meaningful activities, or special education in ethics if it’s available.
You can update your preference by writing to the school or through the online form available at participating schools.
Visit the department’s website for more information about religion and ethics.
